To-do-list in Ochiai Minami Nagasaki

There are two main things which are definitely interesting of Ochiai Minami Nagasaki in Tokyo, the manga area in the north part of Ochiai Minami Nagasaki and the historical park in the southwest part of Ochiai Minami Nagasaki station.

People know Akihabara as the manga and anime area, but what many people don’t know: In Toshima-ku a lot of famous manga drawers lived there. Famous manga artists lived in the apartment Tokiwaso. Osamu Tezuka, who is famous of his work Astroboy, lived in this apartment. Also the manga artist of Doraemon Fujiko.F.Fujio lived here too. Since summer 2020, Tokiwaso Museum has opened in the Tokiwaso Park. Tokiwaso museum is a replica of the original apartment Tokiwaso.
You can experience the life style of these famous manga artists.

Beside of manga, in 1904 the philosopher Enryo Inoue created a park which has 77 unique elements. Japanese traditional buildings, statues and landscape design, which are originated in philosophy. Finally Inoue san’s grave is next to his park. A unique visit and definitely worth it to have a stroll in this park.

 

Metro in Ochiai Minami Nagasaki

Ochiai Minami Nagasaki station is in 13 minutes reachable from Shinjuku station by train, and it is easy to reach Mejiro and Ikebukuro by bicycle. The stations and metros in Ochiai Minami Nagasaki are

• Oedo line (Ochiai Minami Nagasaki station)

 

Interesting points about Ochiai Minami Nagasaki:

• Beside of the manga museum Tokiwaso Museum, there are several manga points to visit in this area. There is a ramen restaurant where many artists visit to have a bowl of ramen. Would you like to experience the same ramen, just follow the manga route map.
• This famous manga artist residence was demolished in 1982, but the current Tokiwaso building looks exactly the same. It is built to be the same as the original one.
